Description

Caprese skewers are an elegant and refreshing appetizer made with a delightful combination of cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, mini mozzarella balls, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. These bite-sized treats are perfect for any gathering, offering a burst of flavor in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 24 red cherry tomatoes
  • 12 yellow cherry tomatoes
  • 24 bite-sized fresh mozzarella balls
  • 36 small basil leaves
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons balsamic glaze
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Start by threading the red and yellow cherry tomatoes onto each skewer. Alternate between the tomatoes, adding a basil leaf and a mini mozzarella ball after each tomato. Continue until the skewer is full.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir well to blend the flavors.
  3. Arrange the prepared skewers on a serving platter.
  4. Drizzle the seasoned olive oil over the skewers, followed by a drizzle of balsamic glaze.
  5. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to an hour before serving for the best flavor and freshness.

Notes

  • Ensure all the ingredients—tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil—are roughly the same size for a uniform and easy-to-eat skewer.
  • Opt for ripe, sweet cherry tomatoes for the best flavor.
  • Use balsamic glaze (reduced balsamic vinegar) for a thicker, sweeter finish instead of regular balsamic vinegar.
  • Prepare the skewers up to an hour in advance and drizzle the olive oil and balsamic glaze just before serving.
