Description

Lemon Cream Cheese Bread is a delightful and easy-to-make treat that blends tangy lemon zest with rich cream cheese for a refreshing twist. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a sweet snack, this bread is a crowd-pleaser with its moist texture and creamy swirl. With simple ingredients and easy-to-follow steps, it’s a must-try recipe for any baker.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 8 oz sour cream
  • ½ cup canola oil
  • Zest of 2 lemons
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • ⅓ cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a standard loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the sugar, eggs, sour cream, lemon zest, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and canola oil until smooth.
  3. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
  4. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until just combined.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
  6. Pour half of the bread batter into the prepared loaf pan. Spoon half of the cream cheese mixture on top and swirl gently with a knife.
  7. Top with the remaining batter and cream cheese mixture. Swirl gently again to create a marbled effect.
  8. Bake for 65-70 minutes, covering with foil for the last 20-30 minutes. The bread is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the bread to cool completely before slicing to ensure clean slices.

Notes

  • For variations, you can add poppy seeds or almond extract for a unique twist.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Freeze the bread for up to 3 months for longer storage.
  • For a lighter option, use low-fat sour cream and cream cheese.
